ALICE keeps our economy running but still can’t afford the basics.

In 2023, 15 of the 20 most common jobs in Idaho paid less than $20/hour – which is less than $40,000 a year if full-time. So, it’s no surprise that 34% of workers in these 20 jobs couldn’t make ends meet.

Each year United Way's Community Fund grants support local nonprofits. 30 community volunteers participate by reviewing, scoring, attending site visits and making funding recommendations to our board of directors. We are grateful for these dedicated volunteers who are invested in our community!

Hunger doesn't take a break. Starting Monday, June 16th, United Way and The Salvation Army will be offering a FREE Grab 'n Go Summer Feeding Program for children ages 18 and younger. Children must be present to receive a lunch.

In Eastern Idaho, 44% of households couldn’t make ends meet in 2023. That included 13% in poverty and another 31% that were ALICE, with income above the Federal Poverty Level but less than the cost of basics.
