The report on failures at Dundee University is devastating. All sorts of financial, leadership and governance failures.

And this ol’ indicator:

"These include a statement that “the curriculum shall not rely on or reinforce stereotypical assumptions about trans people” and... “any materials within relevant courses and modules [to] positively represent trans people and trans lives”."

Horrifying stuff, clearly. You can see why it has to go.
This is appalling. The fine levied against Sussex is under appeal and stands a good chance of being overturned. UK universities are complying in advance with this despicable attack by the government on trans people.

Students and staff at Glasgow uni are united in their determination to see the university divest from the arms industry.

We have written to the secretary of court, calling for an emergency meeting of court and immediate action to be taken to ensure student's welfare is supported.

Divest NOW.

Absolutely shocking news coming out of Dundee today.

Sending solidarity to the UCU staff on strike there, and the UNISON Branch which is going to be dealing with over 400 support staff facing redundancy.

Time to get angry and get 👏🏻 ORGANISED 👏🏻 - this sector is falling apart!

Today, Shane O’Neill, our interim Principal announced the University of Dundee needs to cut 632 jobs to be financially sustainable.

Also there are 237 vacancies (in part due to the recruitment freeze since Nov).

That’s 870 colleagues from 3200. OVER A QUARTER!

The House of Commons education committee will not be looking into any higher education issues when it announces its first inquiries under new parliament, I have learned.

One former DfE-er calls it "staggering" given challenges facing universities.

We are extremely disappointed in the decision made yesterday by SMG and University Court against divestment from arms.

Views of students and staff have been completed ignored, despite those who responded to the (poorly communicated) survey voting over 80% in favour of divestment. 1/2
