… If you match their disrespect you’re giving them more ammo to use against you and perpetuating the cycle of harm.

this is not saying to accept or tolerate physical harm. protect and defend yourself.
just dont be blind to hypocrisy.
If you want kindness for everyone, be kind to everyone.

having a neutral, contrastingly-respectful, or even upbeat attitude about behavior like that means you’re more likely to be seen as a reasonable person and actually change someones mind instead of leaning into their idea that trans people are radical anarchists. …

…. i recognize there can be trauma associated with deadnames, but mostly on the pronoun front, if you see the offender as a silly goose instead of a hateful bigot, theyll have no power over you and youll get a laugh out of it instead of anger or hurt.

…to teach and raise kids to be kind and empathetic, and to correct inconsiderate behavior, not the government’s job to dictate who uses what word for what person.

lastly a note to trans people: when youre confident in who you are, what someone else calls you doesn’t have to mean a thing…

…so the line needs to be where it should be for everything else:

You have the right to be an asshole, just dont put your hands on anyone else or threaten their ability to practice their own personal beliefs.
i dont endorse rude behavior but our constitution says its a right. it’s societies job…

…first amendment rights matter as much as anyone elses.
We need to fix the problem of violence against trans folks, but we can’t do that until conservatives stop seeing lgbt folks being hypocritical about republicans having their own beliefs.
they might be wrong, but its their right to be wrong…

…situations that don’t allow for dreams to be achieved. does that utterly suck? yes. but general acceptance in society needs to be the first step.

and conservatives need to accept that trans people exist and some are athletes.

find something that kind of works for everyone. be reasonable.

-for trans women, if they transitioned before the age of puberty, they qualify.
-if they had male levels of testosterone in their body for a scientifically determined amount of time, they don’t qualify for womens groups.

Trans folks need to accept that some people are born in…

*this isn’t to say being trans is nothing more than paperwork, im keeping it simple for the metaphor and character count.
a better metaphor would be *being* the car, and changing your chassis, paint, engine, and logo to be the car you naturally prefer.
February 2, 2025 at 9:44 PM
…think about it another way:
when you’re born, you’re assigned a car brand to use for life. you get assigned Ford. as you grow up you realize you prefer Honda in every way. Would you rather put in lifelong work to accept being stuck with Ford, or do you fill out some paperwork* and get reassigned?

Is it because of your eyes? is it because of what’s between your legs?
the things a person preferences is entirely bc of reactions in the brain. you prefer your gender with those same types of reactions. most people just don’t think about it bc their’s aligns with what they’re told it should be. ...

as we try to categorize it into neat rules and say it has to be used in certain ways.
How else would we have poems and songs if we aren’t able to recreate how we use words? how would we have decades of slang if we aren’t able to make new ones?
Language is always changing.

… so the next time someone says something to you that is totally unheard of and you want to shut it down, consider that you’re bound to not have heard about each and every potential human experience. Take it as a learning opportunity instead of being fearful in ignorance.

…understand the risks they’re taking, through comprehensive education, and show understanding to the ones who follow their instinct when logically they know they don’t want kids. We can’t expect everyone to be fully logical at all times, and instinct can very understandably drown logic in the moment.
