It's freaking brutal man. For mostly good reasons, academics are programmed to meet argument with argument, which is EXACTLY the wrong thing to do when the whole purpose of the argument is to launder fascist talking points and defeat your enemies
this is true in all sorts of professional institutions but academia is especially vulnerable to it: the collision between the extremely online shitposting troll hate movement and academic institutions who are structured around taking critique seriously is pretty brutal
I think not enough academics have the right background here, to recognize "it's about ethics in gaming journalism" when they see it.
