In 1999, a naked Matthew Mcconaughey was arrested in his house after playing bongo drums at 2 am in the morning. He was accused of disturbing the peace, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest.

During the production 'Tiefland', Leni Riefenstahl used imprisoned Roma and Sinti people sourced from concentration camps as extras. Following the production, many of them were murdered at Auschwitz. Riefenstahl later lied saying she had met all the extras again post war.

In 1943, the FBI began intercepting a series of suspicious coded letters being sent by US Soldiers to Humphrey Bogart. They were revealed to be games of correspondence chess the actor had begun with the soldiers while shooting 'Casablanca'.

In 1941, striking Disney animators used a guillotine to behead a Walt Disney mannequin. The employees went on strike after the studio fired 24 cartoonists. The successful labour action saw employees reinstated, greater equalisation of pay, clearer salary structure and a grievance procedure.

Red Granite Pictures, the production company behind 'The Wolf of Wall Street' , was alleged to have financed the film with funds stolen from the Malaysian Sovereign Wealth Fund. In March 2018, they agreed to repay $60 million to the US government to settle the allegations.

William Friedkin hired a felon counterfeiter to create prop money for 'To Live and Die in LA' (1985). While the crew initially denied spending the props during production, Friedkin later admitted to using the money after the statute of limitations expired.

During the shooting of the tanker crash scene in Mad Max 2, stuntman Dennis Williams was ordered to not eat within twelve hours of the stunt in case he had to be rushed to hospital. Williams would later say "I wasn’t worried... I was just hoping the bastard rolls"

'The Conqueror' (1956) shot 220 km downwind of a Nevada nuclear test site. After 91 members (41%) of the crew were later diagnosed with cancer, people widely began to link the illnesses to the shoot. The causation has since been questioned as it also resembles U.S cancer occurrence rates (40%).

During production of the 1925 film 'The Vanishing American', 14 bison were left on California's Santa Catalina Island. The invasive population eventually grew to number as high as 500 until the island implemented an extensive birth control campaign in 2009.

During the filming of 'Titanic', more than 50 crew members were hospitalised after eating clam chowder spiked with PCP. Both James Cameron and Bill Paxton were scared they had accidentally consumed "paralytic shellfish neurotoxin". The perpetrator was never caught.
