UNGRIPP campaigns on behalf of everyone affected by the Indeterminate Sentence for Public Protection (IPP) in England and Wales.

The white dots show the 2,694 people still in prison serving an IPP sentence.

The red dots show the 90 people who’ve taken their own life in prison whilst serving an IPP sentence

IPP was abolished almost 12 years ago! When will those stuck in prison on IPP be free?
From Nov 3rd HMPPS began a 6-month pilot for people recalled on an IPP/DPP sentence. We’ve made an easy-read version to explain what this means. We don’t want to raise false hope as it’s unlikely to make much difference. The only true solution is resentencing. #UNGRIPP

IPP will be raised in the sentencing debate on Tuesday. This is unlikely to lead to any significant changes. However, it will help to keep pressure on the Government: Link to watch below

It’s shameful & shocking that given what I've gone through & how huge the campaign to bring me home was, & the Government acknowledge the injustice of my experience, still they do not recognise what's going on at home.

We joined @ungripp.bsky.social at Labour Party Conference for a powerful panel on why we must resentence people still trapped under abolished IPP sentences.

As Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe said:
“Indefinite detention quickly slides into a kind of torture.”
