It shouldn't take an account from a diplomat. It's very obvious: the US can never be a trusted partner ever again, because an agreement with any president could just be ripped up by the next one. MAYBE if there were major structural changes to US democracy, its reputation could recover in 50 years.

The world is so upside down. Mafia Dons and serial killers don't get this kind of treatment, but an immigrant with unclear status (a literal misdemeanor at worst), targeted because of political connections, gets a dozen federal agents on their ass.

I think Elon spent as much as $250M on Trump 2024... But he's made about a hundred billion from it, so still a good deal.

I do think they check their backgrounds... to ensure they have pending assault charges and problematic posts. Getting bad people is a feature, not a bug.
