If Dems DO question the results, and our democracy turns out to be legitimately compromised, that breaks the system - and the average American's trust in it. American exceptionalism means that shady elections only happen to "lesser" countries, not us...?!

Dems are so focused on being not-Republican that the thought of sounding like them (even with real proof) is seen negatively. Dems are totally cool with taking us all on the high road straight into hell.

Yep - if you look at the most expensive medications in the world, iirc they are mostly one-dose gene therapies given to children with rare disorders. I get that R&D to cure relatively few kids is expensive, but the undercurrent of "How much would you pay for your child's life?" is so gross.

Genuine question: Why do you keep citing compromised media sources? It makes no sense. There's no way to tell what's true or false or purposely omitted or flat-out lies. Wikipedia is probably more credible at this point. At least people fact-check there.

For once, it wasn't Reagan's fault. A follower of a couple of pseudoscience trust-me-bros' methods got hold of our educational system. Phased out phonics for guessing at whole words. Multiple generations of Americans can't read. Huge lawsuits happening. Names: Ken Goodman, Marie Clay, Lucy Calkins.
How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

I know. I'm saying that I don't use Tor at all. When I try, it's used without a VPN. I can barely open text-only sites on it sometimes, and HD images load like it's the 90s, so streaming isn't happening. I would like to use Tor if it were faster and more reliable for my needs.

I've mostly been concerned that Tor can't handle the traffic? It's usually extremely slow for me. I use a VPN and Brave. Not thrilled with Proton's CEO (to say the least) but converting family members who aren't tech-savvy to other options has been very difficult.

Black folks know EXACTLY what he means. This message is targeted at us.
March 2, 2025 at 12:10 AM
The whole message is a dog whistle. He's using AAVE (African American Vernacular English) and "thugs" because he can't outright say "hey n*****s we're coming for you" (yet)

I wondered about that. Too many words for a real billboard. People don't (safely!) read that quickly.

We must create a pipeline/rabbit hole that is easier to fall down and much deeper than what they're currently being taught. Start out with big trust-me-bro vibes, opinions, and few facts, gradually decrease the vibes/opinions while increasing facts. They subconsciously know and trust this process.
February 28, 2025 at 6:28 AM
Throwing facts at people who feel like their worldview is being threatened doesn't work. That safety glass bubble they're in slowly gets strengthened into Plexiglas. Whacking it with the fact bat ain't it. We have to pinpoint weak areas and drill down to get fresh air (facts) to them.

Yep. I was using a floppy disk or *gasp* a flash drive in my college computer lab. I found out about Dropbox on Digg, and got on the waiting list lol

I've become more concerned about privacy and security over time, so I'm moving away from all cloud storage. Local and offsite, like the olden days.

We should not spend our energy segregating ourselves by cobbling together a smaller table so the people at the big table can continue to ignore our existence. We might have to bring our own seats, but we WILL be seated at that table.

And if they don't like it, they can die mad about it.

Exactly. It was very weird for Target to do such an about face and comply in advance. Like Apple, their ethos included diversity, equity, and inclusion. Unlike Apple, Target's shareholders didn't care about that...well, until now.

Quarterly earnings were already decreasing. But now? Yiiiikes.

The anti-lotion lobby's gonna be in full force. You'll know it's them because they'll be screaming about lotion causing autism and leaving tiny little piles of dust wherever they go

I guess dodging responsibility must be quite exhausting

Almost all of our politicians stand for nothing.

They definitely won't be walking anywhere.
