Proteins, new technologies, Phillies, micrometeorites, and anything I don’t already know. All interesting.
Not impressed. The classic is far superior

One of the negative consequences of redoing the house was that we had to cut down the very productive grape vines in the backyard. It took a while…but grapes are back! New vines are not yet as productive as the old vines but we’ll get there.

Big day for baking. 8 loaves, 3 different recipes. Two football games (Tottenham 👍, Dortmund 👎). Very nice grilled cheese sandy for lunch. Productive.

Spent the day sharpening the collection of knives from the charter school’s cooking seminars. Some really dull ones in there!

Harvested 43 lbs of lemons from our tree. Already made lemonade and lemon ice cream. Lots of lemons left.

Documentary on juvenile offenders training to work with Cal Fire @hbomax.bsky.social. It's complicated - not sure how I feel about the minimal training, lower wages, and limited prospects upon release. It does get them out of lockup and into an active situation where they can achieve something.

Dogpatch is still the most interesting part of SF. Even with all the growth and development seeing the vestiges of SF’s more industrial past is neat (and bay views!)

Finally rode the new electric @gocaltrain.bsky.social up to SF. Great experience! Quiet ride, quiet on the stations, clean, WiFi.

With the tiny pieces and the tiny pictures in the low quality instructions this was a real challenge. Not like easy-peazy Lego sets. Saw these sets all over NYC (Museum of Natural History, Met, most souvenir shops) - glad to have a chance to try it. Thanks Lexi!

Good history of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Focused on British assets within the IRA - their effects on the Troubles and peace process, and who was responsible - both during the Troubles but also 20 years later. How to judge/justify illegal activity (and tacit encouragement) after the peace

Just a little 15.5 ton iron meteorite. Maybe from the iron/nickel core of any early protoplanet. Interesting - only 600 of the 25,000 meteorites found on earth are iron. Great rainy day at the @natural-history.bsky.social

Parker house rolls for Thanksgiving. Also made sourdough rolls but failed to get a picture before they went to the table

Finished this excellent book on the Challenger tragedy (also touching on Apollo I and later Columbia). Clearly outlines the breakdown of the safety-centered focus at NASA. But still amazing to me that with all the complexities of the shuttle and challenges of spaceflight there weren’t more tragedies
