Both utilities and states have incentives to attract big customers like data centers, it said. To do it, utilities — which must get their rates approved by regulators — can offer “special deals to favored customers” like a data center and effectively shift the costs of those discounts to regular ratepayers, the authors wrote. Many state laws can shield disclosure of those rates, they said.

You imagine you stand for human freedom but you suppress the freedom of human communities to define themselves as they see fit, outside your grubby, acquisitive, white supremacist and ecocidal reach.

The biggest divide in our politics is not left vs right — it's top vs bottom. Billionaires are dividing us because our unity is a threat to their wealth and power.

Huh. ACOG: double fatality rate from self-selected *low risk* births.

The other showing home birth just as safe: Planned hospital birth compared with planned home birth for pregnant women *at low risk of complications*. That last bit is quite important and often left out by home birth advocates.
"Specifically, they should be informed that although planned home birth is associated with fewer maternal interventions than planned hospital birth, it also is associated with a more than twofold increased risk of perinatal death (1–2 in 1,000) and a threefold increased risk of neonatal seizures or serious neurologic dysfunction (0.4–0.6 in 1,000)."
