Then I colour pick colours from the painting and draw as if it was with real paints I guess. In csp I would usually add some gradient maps to this concoction

Hi! For this one I used procreate pencil and nikko rull(painting brush). But many textured brushes will do good 2. For this ones I used blue/purple underpainting to establish light and dark areas and then I added with hard light or overlay layers all the character colours.
