You need mods just to even have the game functioning normally because they also neglect game breaking shit like the one pack For Rent has been broken since launch causing people to lose years worth of saves

It's also mega easy to pirate 4 over the others nowadays. You just need the DLC unlocker from Anadius & you can use it with the legal free base game.

Like I don't like EA themselves but the Sims team does put a lot of effort into the game, unfortunately pirating it is like the only option at this point when EA has them pumping out expansion after expansion (it's over 1k now for every DLC)
