Least variable cost technologies win industrial revolutions. RENEWABLES NOW. Truth in politics and journalism. More carbon tax, less income tax. #TaxTheChurches
how about more carbon tax less income tax?
August 28, 2025 at 2:56 AM
income tax load falling on less and less folks. we say we don't want wealthy vs poor but we already have wealthy vs poor?

why are we not looking at way less income tax & way more carbon tax? electorally palatable if sliding scale?

any future income tax needs to target bots? virtual or physical?

And there we have it. Socialism for the already wealthy. An Australian tax system speciality.
Puts them at the very head of Joe Hockey's leaners queue.

Australia's energy storage forecasts are broken
And it could be costly for the transition

how to get the $ where we need them that is win win?

an approach that gently deflates the housing bubble while investing in growing non fossil exports?

-ve gearing & capital gains discount restricted to one property only + a superpower bond (or similar) to divert investment $ processing ore?

lost ALL relevance

yeah - I don't see myself as far right but I think it would appeal there as well.

I can't see it not being an improvement given how ACT works?

happy to stand corrected if I'm missing something.

an approach that gently deflates the housing bubble while investing in growing non fossil exports

eg -ve gearing & capital gains discount restricted to one property only combined with a superpower bond (or similar) to divert investment $ out of housing into processing ore?

with the housing I'd love to see all foreign land ownership reverted to 99 year leases and new foreign ownership pinned at 49-year leases. seems to work in the ACT even for the citizenry?

and focus on the ~700% renewables that delivers post fossil fuel prosperity/enables superpower

the housing bubble needs bursting.
a good start would be to restrict negative gearing and capital gains discount to one additional property only.
investment needs to be directed towards manufacturing instead of a hosing bubble that creates homelessness

pity they didn't sack Angus.

thankYOU Jim.
re go big.

can we pls have something that gently deflates the housing bubble while growing manufacturing???

eg -ve gearing & capital gains discount restricted to one property only combined with a superpower bond (or similar) to divert investment $ out of housing into processing ore?

we're going to have to become an electrostate like China to get off the hamster wheel?

May 2, 2025 at 12:17 AM
so 100,000 selfish bastards stand between young folks and housing?
this is a bubble that needs to be burst.
these investment dollars are doing damage in housing and are required in manufacturing?

Maybe if the Nats represented farmers instead of mining, they could convince Duts?
We could use a (long gone) climate where the cold fronts line up across the bight, and the lows cross the continent instead of open ocean to deliver regular rain for winter cropping.

the housing bubble needs bursting.
limiting negative gearing and capital gains discount to one property only would be a good start to diverting investment $ to manufacturing and leaving housing to house people.
April 16, 2025 at 1:52 AM
agreed. processed metals remains the worst possible plan apart from all the others to maintain prosperity when our coal export sales dry up. which may be sooner than we think. industrial revolutions tend to go exponential historically... www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-chi...
