Okay, when you’re up against people like Trump, the moral imperative is to win. Yglesias wants to win and talks about how to win. Therefore morality is at the center of his philosophy. Being pure and losing is not moral, it’s self indulgent. Smart people know this.

His big problem is that he wants to be seen as a smart, objective, rational guy so he ends up basically agreeing with all of your positions, including on immigration. But that’s not a good look for a Man of the Left so he has to make up points of distinction. He should get over trying to be cool.

I’d like to think Johnny enjoyed his time in The Smiths but I can only imagine how miserable Morrissey made it at times. Maybe behind the scenes he didn’t take himself quite so seriously. Thanks for posting!

Yeah, some of it probably is. But it’s not crazy to say that DEI initiatives have something tangentially to do with critical race theory which is related to Marxism. That was the question raised in the original post

When they say DEI they mean racist white supremacy? I think they mean DEI initiatives. If you think DEI is good(I sort of do), you should defend it on its merits. You have to be careful and smart if you’re going to win arguments.

The equal protection clause was ratified in the 1860s. Why are DEI initiatives only a decade old? It’s not a stupid assumption. It’s the obviously true answer to a silly question.

I assume they mean that DEI comes from critical race theory, which comes from critical theory which was pioneered by the Frankfurt School philosophers who were all Marxists. Doesn’t mean critical throw is wrong but it’s not crazy to say it’s Marxist.

Ultimately it doesn’t matter because your side has lost the argument where it counts. Medical establishments all over the world are coming to their senses and introducing proper safeguards for children seeking care. Some of these kids will transition as adults and good for them.

It’s true that if gender care doctors and scientists fail to adhere to the normal rules of research and medicine, it will undermine trans rights for adults. That’s an argument against the researchers and scientists conduct. It’s not Singal’s fault for reporting it!

What has he said that isn’t true!?! He said that there are some people who transition and later regret it. He said that the usual standards of science and medicine aren’t being adhered to when it comes to youth trans care. All true! You’re helping the cause of anti-trans bigotry a lot more than him!
