I think much of it has to do with the idea that on the internet everybody's got to have an opinion and it's not like they're standing next to you where they must choose their words based on the risk assessment of being punched in the face.

Sometimes I wanna turn off the internet because too many people are incapable of nuanced thought and can't hear what I'm actually saying.

I consumed news for a few hours per day for 8 years and all it got me was stress and Trump again. No more. I have an RSS feed for Megathreads that show up in /r/politics. So I'll know when I lose my health insurance or when the president falls over dead eating a cheeseburger on the toilet.
