Super interesting question, especially considering the franchise and character involved. Are they annoying because they're annoying, or is it because any long term character involvement is unusual in Metroid? Immersion is key, but both Samus and the player being annoyed is immersive in a way.

It's Metroid. You'll get great gameplay and visuals with average trailers and decent enough sales and you'll like it!
