The districts been fucking up, but by all accounts the new superintendent is making things better, they just hired her 5-10 years too late to avoid these closures.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that rather than blaming the district or superintendent we should blame the city/state/country for not helping the students meet their needs at home.

Or they'd need 9000 more students to cover the deficit. That's a 30% increase from current levels that they'd need immediately to fill the hole. I don't think they'll be able to increase enrollment so long as there are students who aren't having the first levels of Maslow's hierarchy fulfilled.

I'll agree that they need do away with excessive non-student facing staff. If that staff averaged $100,000 (which is generous) they'd have to cut 650 positions to cover the deficit. Idk how many people work at Davis, but I don't think they'd be able to do that

I get that this is bad news, I don't want to see schools close either, but with the feds taking money away and the district already being in a large deficit what are they supposed to do? I'm genuinely curious cause there's only so much that can be saved by trimming the fat at the district office

I live in Minneapolis right next to the burned down 3rd precinct. Besides that being boarded up and walled off, nothing else is ruined. Businesses shut down all the time. Was it poor management, the pandemic, or the riots? Probably all three, not just the riots. Quit spreading false information.
