Who were the slaves?
There wasn’t any slave since slavery was abolished by a Frenchman named Sonthonax in 1794. Remember that Louverture was the general governor from 1795 until 1801 and he was against slavery.
Napoleon really wanted to but his army was defeated in Vertières.

The peace of Amiens was officially broken on May 18, 1803. Napoleon knew British would block the seas with their powerful navy. He decided to sell the whole Louisiana, not only New Orleans, for less than offered by Americans. He also knew British would block his troops in Haiti.

Louisiana was an Spanish property until 1800. Napoleon sold it on April 30, 1803. Haiti was freed on January 1st 1804.
The reasons, according to Wikipedia, was the need of money to continue European wars, fear of England navy and no possibility to manage that huge territory. Haiti was not a reason.

December 21, 2025 at 4:21 PM
December 17, 2025 at 2:11 AM

I like it!
15% to pay back Dominican contributions from 1826 to 1843.☺️

December 12, 2025 at 11:22 AM

Napoleón was never in Haiti. If he would, Toussaint would be his ally. Too much admiration!
Napoleon needed money to keep fighting in Europe. He wouldn’t want Louisiana to be conquered by Britains. He knew he would never cross the Atlantic once again while British were dominating the seas !

In 2024, more than 32,000 Haitians children were born in Dominican Republic for free. Dominican women had to move to private center for giving birth bc public centers were overcrowded with Haitians women. 64% of maternity services were supplied for Haitians women.

December 6, 2025 at 2:26 PM
December 6, 2025 at 2:21 PM
Good! It makes sense! I like it !Anyway, Napo needed money for more important wars in Europe and he knew, sooner or later, USA or England would take Louisiana for free. The peace of Amiens was almost over. And the Cuasi war had left a bitter flavor.

What it is the relationship between Louisiana and Haiti?
I guess Napoleon! Then, how Haiti helped on that purchase?
With money?, with people ?
You should know Napoleon had other more important reasons.
Please, let me hear about your reasons!

Dominicans and Haitians are Americans by default. They were born in the same continent named America. .

It’s so sad to hear about the death of such an intelligent and educated little girl. I pray for justice and peace for her soul.
Please, don’t take this sad situation to spread the hate between nations.
In the history books, RD was not liberated by Haiti. Haiti invaded RD from 1822 to 1844.

Maybe they know a little about Haitian’s history. Surely they read about Faustin Wirkus, the American soldier that was crowned as Faustin II, the Emperor, in the island of Gonaïve in 1925.
Read about this and get amazed you too !

Haitians need proteins. Let’s those guys to come!
