I was born in 1964, so my frame of reference for "cars today" is the ones I remember from the '70s. American cars in those days were, by today's standards, absolute shit.

They folded because the air travel chaos was directly affecting them and the people they actually care about. When it was just a question of SNAP payments not going out it was easy for them to "hang tough," since those people aren't where their votes and campaign donations come from.

Hey, what are Elon’s DOGE Kids up to these days? There’s probably a 22-year-old George Mason grad out there [X handle:“RaceWar4Evah1488”] who would be happy to step in.

Given that Alistair, like Amos, is such a blatant authorial self-insert, I've assumed all along that we'd end up with a "smokin' hot identical twins fighting over which one gets to fuck me" scenario.

As Trump said, they like the way Orban "solved the immigration problem": by making life so objectively shitty for 99% of the population that no one in their right mind would want to immigrate there. And they see that as a model for the US.

"The Very Best of Neil Diamond" was one of the 8-tracks that accompanied us on our cross-country road trip in 1973, when I was nine. "Cracklin' Rosie," "Kentucky Woman," "Shilo"...they still bring back such vivid memories.

It's also worth mentioning that the big winners all ignored the centrist line that they had to pay lip service to the "legitimate concerns" of Real Americans® about the right of trans people to exist. I wonder if Ezra Klein and his ilk are going to rethink that. (Kidding -- of course they won't.)

I'm old enough to remember when a GHW Bush marveled at a campaigned at a supermarket and marveled at the checkout scanner, because he'd never seen one before. It was considered a *major* gaffe.

Not just think about, but "study." Which is so much more flattering, at least if you're a woman in the McElverse and therefore derive your entire sense of self-worth from being slobbered over by pompous dweebs.
