He also made another movie I've seen, 'A snake of June', which takes a similar aesthetic and applies it to the 'erotic thriller' genre. Beautifully strange...

The first time I saw that movie it stunned me - I identified with the central character so much. Probably the best film ever made about male rage.
I mentioned this to my partner at the time as the lights came up. She'd loathed it - from start to finish - and told me I was "a sick individual"...

I deleted a first draft around 15 years ago and grieved that it was probably the greatest thing I'd ever write.
Around five years ago, I stumbled across a forgotten copy on an old memory card - I was delighted! And, reading back over it, it was actually pretty good.
