Let us change the term 'tear gas' to 'fear gas', as a skunk would respond to a threat. Ice is full of bullies who are fearful of massed resistance, and their weapon of choice is often fear gas. Ridicule is a potent weapon that is corrosive of thuggish morale

Decent people are, well, decent. And as such, aren't knowledgeable about how to deal with such stuff. Thus, the usual Democratic Party playbook of scolding and finger-wagging is merely pathetic. Elizabeth Warren's "we won't let this happen" while it's happening adds a layer of ineptitude.
