Introducing: Triftlings! These little critters are inspired by a love for really tiny people like The Borrowers, Honey I shrunk the Kids, lilliputians, etc etc. I wanted to invent something that wasn't just... tiny humans.

A small hunched furry creature, with a sewing needle as a staff/weapon. The creature has a hyena or doglike face, with wide, deer-like ears. It's digitigrade with oversized cat-like feet, and 5-fingered clawed hands. It has a long, monkey-like tail. It's coloured a dusky blue, with dark dusky purple and white markings. It wears clothing from tiny fabric scraps, and a discarding alumininum chain maille ring around its ankle. It's one 1 inch tall, and standing on the base of a lamp. The text reads TRIFTLING large along the top, and the paragraphs are "Triftlings are a very tiny race of creatures that typically live inside the homes of full sized humans in secret. At only one inch tall, they scavange and scrounge through the homes when the humans are asleep or away. Triftlings have excellent night vision, and large, flexible ears. Their tails are prehensile, and their claws are retractible, making them fantastic climbers. Preferring homes with lots of clutter, they do very well with lost bits of bobbles under the couches, and bits of food dropped under the counters and fridge. They are strong for their size, and very resourceful, and can thrive perfectly well even in homes with pets. Cat or dog food is readily available, and fresh water is always out. They will often set up their homes inside the walls, to avoid losing them when the humans decide to clean, re-arrange or even move out. "

Step 2: while waiting for the eyeglass to get delivered, pattern out the body! I wanted something interesting but relatively simple to sew. And to use colours I already had. Now to watch a movie while hand-sewing.

Making my first art doll! Step one - sculpt the head, realize that it was not only too small, but the wrong shape, so you resculpt it. Then you make the ears and realize they're too big so you have to remake those too.
