Hahaha. You're not wrong.

Yeah, looks fun. Is the pressing actually any good? You occasionally see some of the weirder early '90s bootlegs in record shops here, like the AnTrop ones of Sonic Youth or Led Zeppelin where they amateurishly recreated the artwork or just left tracks off because they didn't like them.

Aha. I can see the Russkiy disk logo in the corner - so yeah, every chance they didn't pay royalties, but apparently they did care about pressing quality according to this page: sovietrock.com/bootlegs/rus...

I live in what was once part of the USSR, and I've been told that (quite surprisingly) Melodiya did use DMM for some releases in the late 1980s - pretty much all Western ones they'd licensed. I take it if it's unofficial, it's not actually on Melodiya, despite the artwork?

Bargain indeed! My current very English-y folk favourite is Goblin Band's new album, Loaf of Wax. Cracking live set, if you haven't heard it.

Thanks for the info. What would fix it? The host allocating different IPs, or Bluesky switching CDN host (seems unlikely)? The weird thing is that about an hour ago, images suddenly worked again via fibre for a few minutes, and then disappeared again.

Images suddenly seem to be loading again (although who knows how long it will last?)

Hmm. I'm on Telia fibre too. I guess they haven't implemented IPv6 for private customers? Do you know if any other provider in LT would be better?
November 4, 2025 at 9:39 AM
Yeah. On mobile, images won't load over WiFi but they over mobile network; on desktop, Bluesky won't even load. (I'm assuming you're in LT too?)

I've been having this problem intermittently for several days (I'm in Lithuania). At first I thought it was my firewall/ISP, but it sounds like it's wider.

Tempted to say "everything". Great with cheese; equally good in salads. Very mellow sweetness with the earthiness of turmeric, so it works really well in things like tagines.

Same here. Absolute favourites of the moment are elderberry chutney (although it's probably a bit late now) and sweet pickled pumpkin. Photo is what nine years living in Eastern Europe does to a person.

Um... Not exactly. Suffice to say that Latvians asking their way to a guesthouse in Lithuania might find themselves directed somewhere unexpected.

"Replaced from within." I had a momentary vision of a xenomorph bursting out. Which, to be fair, might bring a little more humanity to the company's leadership direction.

To be fair, it does make me wonder if AI can play a role in imagining a better future.

Did I miss the Back To The Future instalment where Charles has to travel back into the past to make sure Liz and Phil go on their first date before his portrait fades to nothingness?

I would 100% listen to any dub album David Lynch made, though.

I found the same and a pristine copy of Martin Carthy's debut in a record shop in a small town in Lithuania a while back. I can only wonder how they got there.

My metal days are pretty far behind me, but this is a cracker that I'd never heard of. Thanks!

I keep hearing things like "he designed it" in relation to Musk, Tesla and SpaceX. Did he? Or did he just buy the expertise of people who do know how to design things, using tainted money that originally came from his Apartheid-loving family?

This is one of the films I most regret not walking out of. See also: The Fountain.
