Meet Dr. Katie Miller! Dr. Miller is an associate professor of Special Education at FAU, earning her doctorate from University of Central Florida in Exceptional Student Education. She has been working with us since late last year, consulting on our various projects. We're thankful to have her!

Meet our other RA, Anna Beck! Anna joined the team in 2024 and graduated from the University of Missouri with BAs in English and Psychology. She's interested in communication, interactions between technology and social behavior, and attachment. Anna loves being outside and being with her loved ones.

Meet one of our RAs, Jackson Davis! Jackson joined the team in 2024 and graduated from Vanderbilt with a BS in Human and Organizational Development in 2023. He's interested in community development, ecological systems theory, social determinants of health, and the impacts of literacy/ed on health.

Meet our Curriculum Specialist, Alex Barker! Alex has her MEd and has worked as an in-home behavior therapist/special education teacher for NC/FL public schools. Alex joined our lab in 2018 and has been a vital team member ever since! At home, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two kids.

Meet our Data Manager, Edmund Fernandez! Edmund earned his master's in Learning Sciences (2014) and is interested in child development in education. He works hard to streamline our data management processes and fills many roles in our lab. Outside of work,Edmund enjoys spending time with his family!

Meet our co-PI, Dr. Stephen Hooper! Dr. Hooper was the PI for our Middle School Writing Project and served as Chair for the Department of HS at UNC-CH. He has worked in numerous settings, ranging from clinical to neuropsychological, and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children!
