The ones complaining about age gap are annoying me a lot lately. “I’m not into age gap but I thought this wouldn’t be too gappy but turns out it was and on my personal moral sliding scale I think writer should be thrown in jail. 3 1/2 stars.” And the title is “Age Gap” and the age gap is like 5yrs

Not even new. Fanfic is ancient and it's well past time everyone realized that basic fact and stopped trying to pretend that stories based on other stories only popped up recently

They're upset because fanfic authors were supposed to stay in their basements, on their laptops, and be ashamed of their accomplishments. A tradpub author who sold 500 copies of their 1k print run was higher on the totem pole than a fic author with 100k unique readers. That was the deal.

Because at the end of the day they're not *really* upset about the objective quality of P2P. They're not *really* upset about potential IP infringement. They're not *really* upset about the content being fashy or patriarchal or whatever the Discourse(TM) of the day is.
