There is plenty to be unhappy about in the budget reconciliation bill, but for someone who studies the importance of intergenerational education effects-losing the ability for low and middle class to have federal assistance to pay for college will have lasting generational effects

These are important points. Univ. of Michigan is the 3rd largest employer in Michigan. Due to stable jobs and good benefits, people with all educ. backgrounds have jobs. So do places UM buys from.

And with lots of different interventions (unlike mathematics) including Title 1 being done in the schools and little to no change across time in basic reading scores--except for COVID drop--so now worse.
