Minnesota critical access hospitals are located in rural areas over 35 miles away from the nearest hospital. Critical access hospitals have no more than 25 beds and coordinate with larger hospitals for more complex cases. #hospital #minnesota

The Rural Physician Associate program was started in 1971 to provide training opportunities for medical students across rural Minnesota. Many participating students go on to practice medicine in rural areas. #ruralminnesota #umn
