ICYMI: Dr. Nick Estes (UMN American Indian Studies) interviewed Leonard Peltier in the @newyorker.com last week.
The Native activist Leonard Peltier was sentenced to life in prison after an all-white jury convicted him of two counts of murder. “If I would’ve been allowed to give my defense, I would’ve never gone to prison,” he says in a new interview.
Leonard Peltier’s Story Isn’t Over Yet
The Native activist spent nearly fifty years in prison for the killing of two F.B.I. agents. In January, Joe Biden commuted his sentence, and he went home.
