Heading home
Mum of 3, AVP-D
UK, but part of my heart in the ME
My eldest flying the nest. Sad... but also exciting to see him thriving at university, loving Jesus and other people and cooking for himself etc. So proud of him especially as he is waiting for an autism assessment, and change is not easy for him.

Happy Christmas, especially to your lovely wife. I remember the days of 2 littles so well. Then we had another! The days are long... but the years are short. Before you know it you get a lie in on Christmas day because they are all teenagers! Until then, enjoy the merry chaos. Everything is showbiz

Who did you see in Teddington?

End Teddington Now 😄
I wanted to comment this but thought it was just too obscure then saw your comment and it has made my night! Everything is showbiz!

Good for her. My daughter aged 3 when told she could dress as an angel for the Christmas service, replied "I'm going to need a sword!" (Genesis 3:24?)

I think be yourself. You want someone who likes you just as you are, not someone you have to play games with to get them to like you. If it doesn't come naturally to be like that, don't do it... Apart from anything else it could easily backfire.

I really think you'll enjoy this...

Yes!! We don't have much money and two years running now I've bought second hand books from a charity bookshop (I love it so much!) for my nieces and nephews, my sisters and my mum for Christmas... The books are in great condition, they all love reading... Everyone wins!

My youngest turns 13 next week... I'll officially have 3 teenagers! It's the BEST. Teenagers are so much fun.

What's hot potato?

One more then I'll stop! We also did highs & lows where everyone says their high and low of the day. This is nice because I felt like it helped our kids show an interest in each other's lives. We got to hear a bit more about the things from their day which mattered to them. And they listened to us!

There are five of us so this worked really well when they were little.

"Unfortunately..."
Third one "Suddenly...."
4th "Luckily..."
5th "In the end..."

Eg
Once upon a time there was a worm called Fred
Unfortunately it started pouring with rain
Suddenly Fred got washed away into the river
Luckily he washed up on a lovely riverbank
In the end he found a new worm family

We also put up a world map right by our table so Guess the Country is also a regular. 20 questions style.

Do you know 5 sentence stories? Someone starts a story with one sentence which begins with "once upon a time there was..."

The next person continues and their sentence starts with

cherry because meh, if it was 1 it would be rum and raisin because gross.

When everyone has offered a category and heard the responses we all have to guess what number the person chose. It sounds a bit complicated but it's not really and it's very very fun and you find stuff out about each other!
October 29, 2025 at 8:00 AM
E.g.. Pizza topping/school subject/movie/ice cream flavour/hobby

The person with the number then says something in that category that they would rate as that number. So if my number is 10 and the category is ice cream I'm saying mint chocolate chip because I love it. If my number was 5 it'd be

We do A-Z of (anything) eg. Star Wars/the Bible/fruit and veg. Not the memory version, just straight through the alphabet, taking it in turns.

More recently Wavelength. One person chooses a number between 1 and 10 where 1 is bad and 10 is brilliant. Everyone else suggests a category

Tell them to look up Proverbs 6:16

Even the Bible is in on it.

Teenagers are the best. My eldest is 18 and just left for university... We miss him, his siblings miss him. Number 2 is sixteen and a delight of a human. Number 3 turns 13 in a month. I'll take this over the baby/toddler years any day! Enjoy x

We did, as always. My mum lives in Chesterfield, such a short drive to so much beauty. We were on Stanton Moor again too. All 3 of my children have now conquered the Cork Stone!

I very much enjoy your photos... Thanks for sharing them!

We were over that way a couple of days ago. Stunning.

While waiting to board a train, my mum spotted you IRL today and wanted to say hello but didn't think it was fair to interrupt your holiday but she says hello now from a respectful distance. We love the show. And everything you do, to be honest!
