🧪🌾NEWS - Nitrate affects wood development, not just growth

PhD student Anna Renström showed that nitrate specifically affects wood formation and wood properties - adding some of the missing pieces to a better understanding of how trees respond to nitrogen.🔬

Ove Nilsson's & Jihua Ding's research groups reveal how evolution reuse the same genetic toolkit for different purposes and in opposite ways. The study is published in @pnas.org.

By comparing trees grown outdoors and in lab environments, they reveal seasonal genetic patterns and highlight both the strengths and limitations of lab-based experiments to study seasonality.
