Dactylorhiza incarnata (L.) Soó subsp. incarnata, photographed at Piampaludo (Sassello, Liguria) in late May 2022. It is an Eurasian orchid typical of wet meadows and alkaline peat bogs. Once widespread in Liguria, it is now very rare due to habitat alteration. #Orchids #Flora #Liguria #Nature

Dactylorhiza incarnata (L.) Soó subsp. cruenta (O.F.Müll.) P.D.Sell, photographed at Salse di Mendatica (Liguria, Italy), is a Euro-Siberian orchid typical of wetlands and peat bogs. Rare in Italy, it’s found in only a few Alpine regions, with just two sites in Liguria. #Orchids #Flora #Liguria

Location: Passo del Turchino (Masone, GE, LIG, IT). Late March 2021.

An Eurasian holoparasitic species belonging to Orobanchaceae. The genus Lathraea is sister to Rhinanthus. In Liguria it is widespread but few common.
