Recently, I was invited to view a photo exhibition on development. It was beautiful and some of the images were stunning. The photographer had put some effort into representing different aspects of development, from various parts of the world, as well as diverse groups of people.

I stopped cycling after a traumatic event. I have tried to pick it up here and there, but have had some mental resistance. Today, some decades later, I realised why a basic activity has been a problem for me for so long.I seem to have developed an inexplicable aversion to cycling. I did not lose the skill, but somehow I was overwhelmed by negative feelings at the thought of cycling.

On 10 April, we marked exactly 100 days into the new year, according to my calendar. That is a milestone! Yet, every year, we celebrate the start of a new year, make resolutions that we break within weeks, then move on. Our focus, thereafter, is on other milestones like anniversaries and birthdays, as well as the usual public holidays that we celebrate annually.

We all have that special place that we call home. Zimbabwe is not perfect, but in spite of its flaws, it is still home...
