Answering this in good faith but actually iceberg charts predate ofmd and most fandoms! they origin from 4chan boards since 2011 (ex below), they got super popular in the pandemic because of creepypasta/nintendo/lost media subreddits^^ (thanks @wormtitty.bsky.social for the image)
