Vaccination rates are slowly increasing - still under 40% for both COVID-19 and Influenza in the 65+ age group.

Severe outcomes for Influenza are increasing but still there are higher numbers for COVID-19, for the week of Oct 26 to Nov 1, 2025, in MB.

Still more severe outcomes associated with COVID-19 than Influenza but they are increasing for Influenza, in the latest report (week of Oct 19 to 25) for Manitoba. Vaccination rates for 65+ are up to 26.8% for COVID-19 and 32.4% for Influenza.

For week 42 (Oct 12 to 18, 2025) there were many severe outcomes associated with COVID-19 in Manitoba, but none for Influenza. Vaccination rates both COVID-19 and Influenza continue to be low even for those 65+ (<20%).

While there were a couple of Influenza cases reported last week (Oct 5 to 11) in MB, all serious outcomes were associated with COVID-19 (22 hospital admits, 5 ICU admits, and 4 fatalities). Interestingly, more people are vaccinated against Influenza than COVID-19.

Big differences in test positivity and severe outcomes between COVID-19 and Influenza, with no severe outcomes associated with Influenza in Manitoba last week (Sep 21 to 27, 2025). In contrast there were 35 hospitalizations and 2 fatalities associated with COVID-19.

Unfortunately, severe outcomes associated with COVID-19 in Manitoba are increasing (week of Aug 31 - Sep 06, 2025), which includes 4 fatalities.

Provincial Respiratory Virus Surveillance Report for Manitoba for the week of Aug 24, 2025 - Aug 30, 2025, shows that severe outcomes are occurring again for COVID-19. No severe outcomes associated with Influenza.

While COVID-19 and Influenza have certainly taken a toll this respiratory season, finally there are no deaths associated with either for the week ending June 7, 2025. And in the case of Influenza there were no severe outcomes at all.

Finally, no fatalities were reported in the Respiratory Surveillance Report for Manitoba, for the week of May 04 - May 10, 2025 (associated with Influenza and COVID-19). Unfortunately, there were 471 fatalities for the current season, associated with both viruses.

While there were two deaths last week in Manitoba associated with COVID-19 and Influenza, there were no ICU admits, and other indicators were also down.

While there are severe outcomes occurring for COVID-19 still in Manitoba (for the week of Apr 20, 2025 - Apr 26, 2025). The rates are much lower than they were last fall.

While there are still many Respiratory-related visits to the Emergency Department in Manitoba (1,400 for the week of April 13 to 19, 2025), severe outcomes are still occurring but at lower rates than just a few weeks ago.
