In SL we have the luxury of self agency and can control more of our process. In RL production environment with a boss it's often either use the ai tool or we'll find someone that will. The concern of this pandora's box is real, but I do think it is a more nuanced topic than black/white.

I understand the fear, but I do think that something can be learned by talking through to see both sides as opposed to resorting to lashing out. Like why have these other artists started using ai in their words, not assumptions. It may be they don't know of a solution and suggestions can be made.

We openly cast for our games. I think there is a misunderstanding of how many SL users are comfortable having their voice recorded. We would not be using ai voiceover in 2025 before looking to other solutions first.

In general I do not disagree with the views of ai in this conversation. My disagreement with the militant, accusatory, and non-empathetic way the others in this conversation have conducted themselves. The general tone felt very unproductive to changing minds.

Well and it's very easy for this group to misidentify alleged ai also apparently. An example posted here a bit ago was an old item that was not ai lol.

I understand not being happy about it, but I also think it is unfair to villainize those that may not have come to that decision for themselves yet. It is especially not helpful when there starts to be accusations of 'it's only a matter of time before they use it'.

In terms of visual ai as I head our branding and marketing and often am involved in product dev we do not utilize generative ai on our assets. The items I create for BackBone do not use generative ai as well. However, I do feel this is up to each individual artist as to how they want to approach it.

However, a year+ ago a game may have contained 100% ai due to a production crisis for example, while our latest games are 95-100% community voice acted. Our work in that sense speaks for itself as to where we are trending and working towards.

This is specific to MadPea which is an artist collective often working in multiple industries, languages, and evolving our views and processes. I think there is an expectation for perfection from this group of commenters that I don't think is very realistic towards a production environment at times.

While we are not currently at what I would consider a perfect level of care towards this issue, it is internally something that we strive for. When there is a large team concerned comprised of people from all different backgrounds and areas there may not be a unified process immediately.

Sure I would be happy to answer. First, I would say people's opinions on a subject can evolve over time. While in the past we have used ai voiceover as a solution to accessibility concerns under production emergencies, we have been able to address this earlier in our production for the most part.

I replied to a comment that was giving misinformation about my personal brand, aika. I'm not threatened by the topic and have discussed openly both my personal opinion and how uses have occurred in a production setting for additional stores I work with.

The topic is of course a broad one of concern, but your groups specific approach is absolutely an echo chamber. Totally understand why ai is upsetting and scary, but you have the wrong ethics outside of the issue itself.

Wouldn't know. I didn't make this. Lol you can feel like you are dragging me all you want! Outside of your aggressive little echo chamber, witch hunting isn't seen as very heroic. Try lobbying your politicians for regulation instead of attacking small businesses that utilize currently legal tech.

Maybe that's normal for your group to pretend to care about things to find solutions for in order to repeatedly accuse me of 'aesthetic' concern, but these are things that others genuinely care about. The replies to this conversation really tell me exactly what kind of people you are.

The language discussion was in response to the assumption that ban was over them asking about ai. Which, I am under the impression it was not. I do not disagree with the overall conversation, but I also feel the other side to this conversation has lacked any nuance and went on an attack instead.

No one is denying ai usage, they made a statement. I explained the cases in which MadPea has used ai voiceover in games, what our motive there was. I am personally not a user of visual ai, but I have used VO ai where I need accessibility regardless of production issues.

Well I think it is because we have more agreement on the subject than what is clear from a limited text character thread, but are both very passionate and defensive of our works as artists.

I'm sorry if my saying they sound like MAGA offended you, but their hostility and taking the actions of one designer and applying them to several dozen working artists hoping they have their jobs removed via bankruptcy is very MAGA to me. They have since explained they are intolerant left instead.
