Grey-bearded data wrangler, book devourer and recent convert to cat adoration. Unpleasant habits include a fondness for Prog Rock, possibly the result of a chaotic meeting of noodly tunes and Cthulhu's noodly appendages.
25 years in the company of Mo, Bob, and many others both light and dark. Arrived and read, a fitting conclusion courtesy of @cstross.bsky.social, though hopefully not our last visit to the Laundryverse. A belting end to an entertaining journey.

There's one for Spock's mother, Amanda Grayson, in Lewisham.

An all too common occurrence in Sheffield. You'd think the gravel and steel rails might be a clue, even if they couldn't read the "No Entry" signs. Never underestimate the power of human stupidity...

Age must be affecting your memory, as Blockbuster had over 800 stores in the UK by 2000. My local store here in Barnsley in the peoples Republic of South Yorkshire closed in 2013. South Clerk Street, Edinburgh closed in 2009. 😎

The subject of that article was giving me these vibes, and not in a good way.

Older than that even. I remember seeing a PERQ on a school trip to the Rutherford Appleton Lab at Harwell in 1979. That and the Xerox Star were derived from the Xerox Alto. I bet Xerox wished they'd managed to capitalise on their research.

I'll hold up my hand and plead guilty to being a sucker for a trash Nic Cage movie.

Post a movie you like with a terrible Rotten Tomatoes score

Puts me in mind of the classic Wondermark cartoon...

Titoism has brought Hoxhaism along, though the latter will probably try and flog old copies of "The National Liberation Struggle of the Albanian People"

Sadly we do. Such as bread, oats, and other staples, which is bad enough, but then in a move which would enrage many Scots, a company even put the Union Jack on haggis ffs (sorry, Charlie)

Sadly the photos appear to differ. Examples are different logo shapes and placement on shirt (red and orange); different awning pole placement (blue); and no chain to right of post (green). Pity though, the champagne is still on ice...

...for now...

Choose 20 paintings that have stayed with you or influenced you — one painting per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just paintings.

Except he didn't. He said £Trump has changed the global conversation" which he has. Europe and the World now know USA can't be relied on and they must act accordingly.

Interesting how scores vary so much between words. I guess I can see why "Trebuchet" and "Pylon" are more similar than "Engram" and "Eucalyptus"

Bizarrely, my options are Microsoft 365 Family @ £7.99 or Microsoft 365 Family Classic without AI at the lower cost of £7.99. I guess it's Copilot that thinks £7.99 is a lower price than £7.99...

Ford Escort Mk1 1300L. Marine Blue with beige vinyl seats. Try to take it over 65mph and it'd do a reasonable impression of the Six Million Dollar Man intro. Gearshift like stirring treacle front wings that flapped. Crock of shite, but my first car so of course I bloody loved it.
