Often thought about what a modern remake would look like - but I think that it would lose much of the whimsy in a more hardcore time and therefore miss the point.

Due South did it best. When introducing Fake Ray, Fraser spent an episode travelling around Chicago to "prove" it was not the real Ray Vecchio.
Every time he got somewhere, it was destroyed. So he had to accept Fake Ray because there was no evidence Real Ray had ever existed.

I say this as someone who never really got past any control scheme more complicated than a Competition Pro with a fire button.

I say this as someone who never really got past any control scheme more complicated than a Competition Pro with a fire button.
It also took me three weeks to work out where the Log is. And the item wheel is, at best, inelegant.
Ultimately the problem is Too Many Options for Too Few Buttons.
Given the weightiness of the way Arthur moves in response to commands it’s a bit too much for my old brain to cope with.
