Bombed in 1941, the House of Commons Chamber was rebuilt by 1950.

420 years ago today, the Gunpowder Plot was foiled in the cellars of the House of Lords.

The event is still marked now, when members of the Yeomen of the Guard ceremonially search the cellars of the House of Lords before the King arrives for the State Opening of Parliament.
