Mountain-dwelling software guy, into good food, good times, and big hairy bears!
It takes legwork. Our San Jose neighborhood was so close, I had a memorial for John there 16 years after we left, and EVERYONE showed up. But that was all because of a neighborhood watch program one person started 30 years ago. It doesn't take much, but it takes someone to initiate it.

Definitely the skunkiest year ever. Never seen so many!

Although “The Empire Strikes Back” was the top film, I’m going for “The Shining” because I’m hoping for more awkward fursuit blowjobs.

It's like you're attempting 69 but the other guy isn't putting any effort into it.

Dang, that's like the blink of an eye. It will be over before you know it!

I could "theoretically" retire but I'm staying employed as a hedge against economic uncertainty. Don't mind it really, but I definitely understand the "too old for this shit" feeling...

True story: while in New Orleans last year, I had a date with a guy who was a Colonel Sanders impersonator. The funny thing was, I introduced him to my travel mates when he wasn't wearing the outfit, so when they later saw him in character, they were all, like, OMG YOU FUCKED COLONEL SANDERS!!!

OMG, when I was a kid my mother thought that would be a good Halloween costume and bought it for me. I was completely repulsed and embarrassed by the yellow vinyl jumpsuit thing and refused to even try it on.

They forgot "mosquito spray".

Have you tried just plugging it in to your computer? Don't know what version of iPhone/MacOS you are using but current ones have built in photo sync capabilities.

Are they synced to the cloud through the Photos app? My iphone photos appear on my Mac more or less automatically.

We use AWS because our workloads are freakishly spikey and we can neither afford a million-dollar server nor wait a week for a particular job to run.

But, even if we had steady workloads, our IT department is so awful that we do anything we possibly can to avoid working with them!

The source and the incidence of tax revenue are different things. Corporate taxes either come from shareholders, employees, or consumers, and you can’t generally control which group is most affected. A tax on corporations can be extremely regressive if it increases prices on essential goods.

So you had grapes and marijuana for lunch? That's pretty much the only things that are grown in this county, lol.

You had to cancel your dates because of skunks? I’d have used that as a test of their enthusiasm, lol.

If I'd fathered a child on that day, I'd be able to take him to a bar one month from now.

I subscribe to substacks one at a time, cancel them immediately so I don't forget to do so at the end of the month, and spend the subscription period reading its archives. Then, next month, I move on to a different one.

Since we raise our own chickens, we already have the most expensive eggs in the world, lol.

Dinkey Creek Bridge, one of my favorite landscape photos. Sadly it collapsed - I thought it had been due to a fire, but it was actually snow that did it. Apparently the county is going to consider rebuilding.
