Also "documenting AGI" ...what? We are not even close to AGI. If we had AGI, our technology would be vastly different. All we have right now is a sassy autocomplete.

There are literally hundreds of Linux distros out there. Zorin may not work for you, and that is perfectly OK! The great thing about Linux is that you have so many choices to choose from, so there is always bound to be at least one distro that you will like.

...other applications and download them without the need of a terminal.

By far, Zorin has been my favourite distro and made me really love Linux. I used to be an exclusively Windows user and was scared of Linux until I came across Zorin.

...you can set the GUI to look and behave like whatever you are familiar with - Mac OS, Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 11, Chromebook, it even has a touch UI. I have mine set to Windows 7. Zorin also (optionally!) comes pre-installed with software, and it comes with an app where you can browse...

Something I suggest is getting a small pc or an old used pc/laptop and installing different Linux distros on it until you find something you genuinely feel comfortable using. A lot of distros let you live boot off a flash drive to test them out. My first recommendation is Zorin because...

This makes it AMAZING for when you are trying to build an OS for a specific platform and have it be compatible with specific things. It makes creation of custom plug-ins amazing and laughably easy to achieve - The sacrifice is that the learning curve is steep. It does NOT hold your hand at all.

Indeed. See, the reason SteamOS is so good on the Steam Deck is literally because they use Arch Linux. Yes, Arch is not beginner friendly... HOWEVER it is by far one of the best in terms of customization. It does not set anything up for you, it leaves all configuration up to you.

It looks fart cloud green to me

Your mileage will absolutely vary depending on what distro you choose. I feel that dismissing Linux entirely because you are having issues with one specific distro is a bit... Unfair.
I do understand your frustration however, as Arch is targeted towards more experienced users.

As for needing to look up how to open programs... well, I literally have all my apps on my home screen and have never needed to do that - Probably because I use Ubuntu (what Zorin is based on) rather than Arch Linux (which SteamOS is based on). Arch is not very beginner-friendly.

Your best bet for the more ludicrous anti-cheat-enabled games is running Windows via dual booting. I personally just never play games with those anti-cheat things because they are spyware anyway.

SteamOS is good when used as prescribed, but it is not necessarily meant to outright replace Windows. SteamOS was created with the Steam Deck in mind, not regular general-purpose computers. If you want more general-purpose, I suggest doing a bit of looking into different distros.

In fact, I only really use Windows for a couple of niche Windows-only applications that don't play well with Zorin's built-in WINE, and for VR until I set up WyVRn on Zorin. Everything else I just use Linux.
September 28, 2025 at 5:43 PM
I mean, I dual boot Windows and Zorin (which is natively compatible with most Windows applications, though I rarely even use that feature). I have had no real issues with it and I have only used Linux for a couple of years. It was really easy to learn. I use Linux far more than Windows now.

*agency like NASA or corporation like Meta, NASA is not a corporation but an independent agency of the government. I wrote that post right after waking up and was thinking of two things at once 😭

Can I add that they also expect you to act like you work for them and follow their guidelines on OTHER WEBSITES AND OFFLINE!?!?! This is shit that you're supposed to do if you actually are working for a corporation like NASA or some shit. This is like if Discord controlled what you post on Twitter.

To date, Scales and Honor is my favourite novel. In fact I think I got my boyfriend into dragons because I had him read it too.

I eventually became the wasp tamer/remover of the household. I would feed the wasps honey or sugar water every day for a week until they recognised me and then carefully relocate the nest with them still on it. We had a garden of blackberries so the paper wasps were important to remove pests.
