I find that getting I nice fresh edge on a scraper and scraping end grain gets rid of burns faster.

..But it also might just be that I like scraping, it makes me feel like I'm more serious than I am! 😅

I think the steam bending is still a pretty common way to get the look though! This is a video showing what I pretty much did, but I used a Dremel and sanders... I'm not great with a carving knife!

Maybe on the next one, but since I made it from two pieces of cherry, I cored the inside with a Dremel after cutting the rough curved chape. To do the steam bended stem, you need to buy some long drill bits specifically for that

(not)Controversial take: allocate every dollar you make or it will get spent.

I find that if I don't specifically designate every dollar for a purpose, then anything that isn't "labeled" is free extra money and just gets spent wether it needs to be spent or not

That is crazy!!

No lathe involved on this one. I made it the "easy" way. Two pieces of cherry temporarily taped together with double sided tape, cut a rough outline, unstick and cut the channel with a Dremel on each side, glue together and shape the pipe with whatever ya got. Surprisingly easy and fun

It's fully functional, tested it last night. I don't really plan to use it much, so it'll end up being a decoration, but it was a fun easier than expected project

That looks great! Did you weld up the legs too?

What's the point of this article if it doesn't actually have the recipe or even link to it?

The Commanders have given up an average of 137 rushing yards per game which is 3rd worst in the league. They do not have a top 5 rushing defense, they have a bottom 5.

They look like a lot of fun, I just gotta prepare for having 30 of them around the house as 8 practice!

There's a surprising selection of kits like this, but most of them are handles for garden or kitchen tools. Happy I could find something interesting and pretty unique like this

I got the hardware for making the humidors from Rockler woodworking, so the metal bits that you see in the picture as well as bushings for turning it on the lathe
