What a shitty person. But I did enjoy the short-lived animated Dilbert series way back in the day (never understood why people liked the comic strip though), OTOH maybe I had way worse taste back then

Trump is a self-solving problem. What conservatives and liberals (+ some progressives) conveniently ignore is that the conservative "belief system" she's talking about is the core of the issue. It's literally why we can't have nice things. These Trump voters have NOT woken up in any way that matters

It's probably the only opinion I really agree with him on: if you're really talented in something it's kind of a waste not to dedicate your life to it. But not everyone can, and not everyone wants to. The bravado of "that's a cuck question" is a true artist's answer, I'm just unsure of his sincerity

That's true, but the idea has traction. I didn't mean to imply Dark Forest passes peer review. Unverifiable or even false ideas still shape frameworks of thought, right? And academics do act as influencers

I swear it's been making the rounds ever since the first book dropped. Granted maybe I'm just amplifying this in my head, but I hate this idea so much. As a model it explains very little, it's just a socially regressive notion dressed up as a supposed fact of nature

While Loeb is an insidious crackpot who actively ignores the harm he causes, I would like to posit that the widespread academic acceptance of the Dark Forest is actually harming the public perception of the universe more, in much the same way that we're still using terms like "Alpha Wolf"

What's the use case of this? In the few cases where I'd want to allow the pasting of strings that retain formatting, I'd want more control over it than "just remove scripting"

It's AI, and it's very dumb. These painted hole rugs don't even look like that from the PoV of where the animals are. This literally targets people who don't know how perspective works

There are people who could spend 9 BILLION on it and it wouldn't make a dent in their fortunes. Multi millionaire comic collectors are so much closer to us than billionaire oligarchs will ever be, it's not even funny

Future historians will call our time the Digital Dark Age because so little software and information will survive, virtually nothing about us will be known for sure. What games we played, how our jobs worked, what historical events were actually real, all unknown.
