UDE diatoms in the wild 2024: a new image dataset of freshwater diatoms for training deep learning models Largest available diatom image dataset from our ecological research projects Highlights: 318 diatom samples, 83570 images if 611 diatom taxa, 101 species with at least 100 examples, two deep learning experiments going beyond standard supervised learning Collaboration of the phycology lab of the university duisburg essen, the biodata mining group of Bielefeld university and the georgia tech group of the university of lorraine. Funded partially by the crc RESIST 1439 and the Humboldt foundation.

Great news! RESIST (CRC 1439) has been prolongued for 4 years. More science with field ecology, exstream modified mesocosm systems and flumes and much, much more! Stay tuned for updates!

What is GreenHAB? GreenHAB is a German university consortium to study future distribution and effects of Harmful Algal Blooms forming algae and their effects in Greenland. Collaborating with Danish scholars, too, our first expedition to Disko Bay is coming up!

We are not necessarily celebrating Halloween, but the wonderful world within _Zea mays_. The vascular system that our first-years image and draw for the botanic microscopy course seem quite monstery anyway. 👽💀🧟🤡
