What you see is an organ formed by the merging of elongated nose and upper lip. The trunk has approx 40k muscles. Infants struggle with this boneless organ but they become very adept with this as they grow older. #elephants #trunk #tusk #muscles #westernghats #nature #wildlife #mammals

He was patiently waiting for his mate to come out of the bush. And she took her sweet time to appear. There was a mild argument them perhaps as they exchanged a soft roar. Later both went inside bushes who never came out for a long time. #tiger #bigcats #nature #wildlife #forest #tigermatingpair

This infant with barely any hair on its head glazing curiously at the sub-adult who was springing between the ground and the branch. With her moist eyes filled and reclining on the lap of its mother, who is busy in grooming herself. #primates #liontailedmacaque #wildlife #nature #rainforest

This kid was browsing behind its mother. Then saw its mother doing mud bath. He followed to do same thing by taking some mud from his mother’s back and threw on it. #elephants #nature #wildlife #deciduous #forest

Endemic to the Western Ghats, this female Malabar Parakeet was flying and screeching along with 3 others in the flock. Finally they sat on a tree before flying off again to another one with flowers. You if happen to notice this bird with a red beak, then that guy is a male. #birds #nature #wildlife

Although injured he climbed the tree painlessly. He then rested on the branch for a while before getting down as effortlessly as he climbed. He was limping all alone. Injured probably either while defending his territory or while occupying one. I hope to see him again soon. #primates #wildlife

Did you notice the blue colour on the bird’s throat? That’s how this bird got its name, Bluethroat. This is a male, the blue colour is either very pale or not present in females. It is also one of those birds whose naming conventions is based on male’s plumage. Easy to identify. #wetland #birds

He came out of a bush, did the royal walk to cross the track and climbed the slope graciously. Just one glance towards us before disappearing. No alarm call on this occasion. Appeared all of a sudden out of no where. Raw serendipity like these delightful. #tiger #mammal #wildlife #bigcats #nature

Jack fruit lover, Chekka Komban as he is fondly called. The lone tusker was taking a dip the water hole, came out to clean itself by taking a mud bath, crossed the road and disappeared into forest. #elephant #tusker #nature #teaplantations #wildlife #wildlifeconservation #natureconeervation

The entire scene lightened me up in what an otherwise was an overcast day with less activity of birds.

This Indian Scimitar Babbler revolving around the trunk to find some insects. Carefully pulling up one after another, put it inside the mouth. #indianbirds #wildlife #nature #birdwatching #birds

Lion-tailed macaque feeding on the exotic species, the seed of an African Tulip, primarily due to less availability of native trees around them. Many of the native species have been eroded in favour of exotic ones mainly coffee, cardamom, tea and so on… #liontailedmacaque #primates #wildlife
