The city of Cincinnati: Cincinnati is a great metropolitan area, with many festivals, arts & music scene, and lots of excellent local breweries! Cincinnati is also home of the Bengals, Reds, and FC Cincinnati.

Travel and research funding: Our grad students have access to travel and research funding opportunities, including through @TaftResearch, @GSG_UC, and other local funding.

Teaching opportunities: Our grads frequently have the chance to teach their own class. We also teach our students best practices and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) through a required grad seminar on Philosophy & Pedagogy.

Research & internships: we have funded positions with Philosophy of Science Association (we host the PSA Executive Office), Cincy Ethics Center, Center for Public Engagement with Science, the Institute for Research in Sensing (IRiS), and the Strange Tools Research Lab.

Interdisciplinary opportunities: Our PhD students have enrolled in courses and even earned master’s degrees in a wide range of fields, including Biology, Engineering, Geography, Criminal Justice, Neuroscience, Psychology, Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies, and beyond.

1️⃣ His paper, “The Impact of In-Detention Treatment on Female Substance Abusers’ Sense of Self” (with colleagues from UC & NKU), was just published in the International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology. Read here:
