“Nutsedge competes for water, nutrients and can block out sunlight if it’s not removed before it spreads out in cilantro,” Oleg Daugovish @ucanr.edu said. “The only way to get rid of nutsedge currently is to pull it out by hand, which is cost-prohibitive in cilantro.”

Neglected orchards attract pests that affect neighboring farms

For every $1 donated, Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano uses 97 cents to buy fresh produce. These apricots were donated by a Lodi grower, but the food bank had to pick up the fruit
