It’s all designed so the bridge can move as a unit during an earthquake.
It’s unique in the world! A self supported suspension bridge. A single cable goes from the far end, up over the top, around the near end, and back to the opposite side of the far end. It’s also asymmetric; the far side is twice the length of the near side, the near side is double weight.
