Ben played drums and vibes in my band, Neem, in Seattle in the 90s (He was our second drummer, out of three... we went through them like Spinal Tap).

Apparently it's a screenshot from the horror movie "The Omen". If you see anyone with this as their banner image, let them know... they may have been hacked.

New brew! Hibiscus-lemongrass. You can ferment pretty much any infusion or tea by adding sugar and yeast. I'll test this in a month... if it seems ready I'll bottle it; if not, I'll let it go longer.

While I waited for my kid to be done at the dentist, I took a walk to the nearby record store. Found a couple gems in the "off the wall" section, and had a nice conversation with the store owner. Only knew Teo Macero as a producer... didn't know he composed too.

I don't normally do #photography but saw the moon through the skylight in my house and thought of the #Windows prompt. :D

Down to my last two bottles of lemongrass-ginger wine, so it's time to start a new brew! #herbalwine
lemongrass, moringa leaf, wormwood, licorice, anise, fennel, oregano, and thyme. I usually brew for two months before bottling. A gallon jug makes about 4 1/2 bottles.

Here's the photo version, just for the hell of it...

New painting! I'm going with the scan on this one. The photos come out sharper but the colors were all wrong. #artyear #acrylic

Made an udu drum yesterday, from a vase I picked up at a thrift store for $3! It's really easy to transform a vase into an udu drum, so long as you find one that's the right shape. If you hit the top with your palm there should be a satisfying "bwoomp" sound. Continued...

I use cube beads as movable bridges to quickly fine-tune the sympathetic strings (you don't play them, they vibrate along with what you play, like reverb) on the reverse of the body of my latest instrument. I'll show you the front too (more info in alt text)...

Just finished this one. I took a photo and also scanned it. Which is better, and why?

What I posted above is a scan of the painting. Here's a photo of it. Neither is entirely accurate to what it looks like in person. Just posting bc I'm curious to see how they compare next to each other.

New work! I'm working on another but it's not quite done yet. I think this one is...

This is a mixed-media thing, not sure what it is or means. I think it's the last painting I have to post, until I make more. I guess I'll have to make some more. #Artyear

This is the art for the album cover of my band Neem, released in 1995. I just put the music up, too, so I'll link to that below. Progressive rock in 90s Seattle, who knew?

I did this with epoxy and acrylic paint. Do whatever you want with your guitar. It's yours.

#FebruArty #Artshare "rings"
I've posted this painting before but it's the only thing I've got for rings and it's an opportunity to take a better photo of it.

This was done during a difficult time. While not consciously intended at the time, I now see it as an old ship with many sails, in a storm, hit by cannon-fire.

Post you from a different era in your life.

Here's the one I was actually looking for, but couldn't find (til now). This was after playing with Neem at a festival and met these guys with their dog and they let me play their mandolin. A vendor at the festival gave me the hat, free.

Post you from a different era in your life.

That's me on the left playing guitar, in 1995, Seattle. The band was Neem. We recorded one album, started on a second. I'll post some of that soon on bandcamp. AFAIK this is the only surviving pic with the original drummer, Bryce Stockton.

This is an old painting I was unsatisfied with so reworked it last night. I'm much happier with it now. #artyear #art
