PCBs for this LTO BMS are home and I'm soldering the main (blue on the photo) connector to all 90 pieces.
And how is your Sunday going? 🙂

Exciting news today. The manufacturer is ready to ship 200 LTO cells for my LTO battery back with BMS. 🥳

If all goes well, it will be available for your Meshtastic/MeshCore/Reticulum nodes by the end of this month.

Okay, this is so cool. 😎

Two years ago, I set up a Home Assistant alert for low toner in my Brother laser printer. Then I completely forgot about it - until today, when I finally got the notification! 😅😁

A quick test of the MeshCore firmware on my "Meshtastic motherboard". It works!

Should I call it "Meshtastic/MeshCore motherboard" now? 🤔😁

I've built a pocket-sized Game Boy emulator using the RP2040 and shared all the details on my blog. Whether you're into retro gaming or love DIY projects, check it out here:

Another Meshtastic solar node is finished and ready for duty.

I built the first node of this design over six months ago, and it’s been working flawlessly ever since. Since then, I’ve refined the design, optimized the 3D-printed parts, and improved the electronics.

Still need to 3D print an enclosure for this, but otherwise, it's working perfectly. It’s a simple upgrade anyone can make to those $5 LED chains.
January 17, 2025 at 11:57 PM
So, I grabbed one of my USB-C battery chargers (a design I made myself in KiCAD) and modded it to output 2.9V instead of its default 3.3V. Now the LED chain runs at constant brightness, powered by a 1000 mAh LiPo. Rechargeable, reusable, hassle-free.
January 17, 2025 at 11:57 PM
The original chain used 2 AA batteries—no electronics, just direct power to LEDs. It worked, but dimming lights as batteries drained was annoying, and swapping batteries constantly? Not great for convenience or the environment.

Ever had one of those cheap LED light chains that dim as batteries drain? Me too. So, I modded mine into a USB-C rechargeable version with constant brightness. No more dead AA batteries. It's a neat little project, and here's how I did it. 🧵

🌞 Say hello to the solar-powered Meshtastic board with MPPT - now in revision D! 🚀
I made some tweaks to the PCB design based on user feedback. And since I was ordering a larger batch (50 pieces), I prepared it as a PCB panel - my first one ever!

Meshtastic is an open-source project that turns small, low-power devices into a long-range, off-grid communication system using LoRa radios. Perfect for hikers, ham radio enthusiasts, or anyone who needs text and location sharing without cell service.

My soldering skills are getting better with every board I assemble. But I really need to buy some good quality microscope. My eyes are not getting younger 😀

I upgraded my old PS4 controller to USB-C. 🎮 No more micro USB in this house!

Welcome to the mesh! Just a heads-up—this hobby has a way of making you build more nodes and 3D print more enclosures. It happens to everyone in the Meshtastic family eventually. 😀

My Meshtastic node, powered by a 10W solar panel and a 3Ah Li-Pol, has been on the roof since July. Its current uptime is 84 days, and even with winter approaching and the sun often hiding behind clouds, the battery stays above 90% all the time. 🔋☀️

I did something very similar last month. RP2350 with 480x480 LCD. The interface between them is 18bit RGB and HSYNC+VSYNC. Is yours the same?

Took me some time, but I was able to fit everything into one PIO.

The plan was to use a 4.2" 400x300 px e-ink display from Good Display. However, after making a quick CAD mockup, I don't like how big it looks. I’ll either need to come up with a clever design (maybe display can be on a hinge?) or find a smaller display.

My latest project: a macro keyboard with 12 MX Cherry switches, an e-ink display, and an RP2040. Perfect for KiCAD and FreeCAD/Fusion 360 shortcuts to make life easier.

I discovered Meshtastic at the beggining of this year and since then I designed a few PCBs for it. The first picture is the RAK4630 with an MPPT charger and the second picture shows the LTO battery pack with my BMS based on ATtiny.
November 21, 2024 at 9:35 PM
If you're interested in Meshtastic, I've translated my text about the design of the RAK4630 motherboard. More details can be found here:
uart.cz/en/2534/sola...

I already made and sold more than 30 pieces to Meshtastic enthusiasts here in Czechia. Let's make the network bigger 😀
November 15, 2024 at 4:02 PM
That was a lot of soldering! 😅 Who would have thought soldering the same component (the RAK module) 20 times would take half a day? I really need to get a hot plate and try using solder paste.

The board is for solar-powered #Meshtastic node, if anyone is curious.

I usually 3D print functional items, but sometimes I step out of my comfort zone to create something more fun. Here is my RP2040-based Game Boy emulator with a PLA enclosure.
