When is enough enough? When does it become too much? What more do trans people have to give up? 6/6

Every time I hear it, I can feel a dagger go through my heart. Every time I hear it, my brain just becomes flooded with yet another thing trans people aren't allowed to do. Every time I hear it, I feel how public sentiment on trans rights is slipping away. 5/6

I feel so mad and tired and betrayed. These are all things that I've heard cis people say. Cis people that self-reportedly (but don't actually) support trans rights. 4/6

They said, "I support trans rights, but I think it's unfair that they get insurance for gender affirming care."

They said, "I support trans rights, but I don't think it's a big deal to say that trans people are mentally ill."

They said, "I support trans rights, but ..." 3/6

They said, "I support trans rights, but I don't think trans youth should receive gender affirming care."

They said, "I support trans rights, but I don't think we should be spending money on trans women in prisons getting gender affirming care." 2/6

6/6 The 4th point and "may also impact trans adults" afe just my own take. This EO just happened today, so I'm wondering what orgs (like ACLU) say after they analyze this. It's not 100% clear to me as of now

5/6 While the EO is specific about taking away funding specifically for trans youth, the language clearly suggests that GAC is not seen as a valid healthcare path in general. So, for trans adults that get gender affirming care, it'd be important to keep an eye on the impact of this EO and future EOs

4. Another sidenote is that Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act was mentioned as a funding source to take away for trans youth. This is the same provision that trans adults rely on to get their care covered.

3/6 Paraphrased summary:
1. Remove and replace all policies from federal organizations that are based on WPATH (may also impact trans adults)
2. Block sources of federal funding for GAC for trans youth
3. Use DoJ to investigate providers and pharmacies for GAC (may impact trans adults)
